Duration of the Course: One Academic Year
Eligibility:
A graduate who has passed the three year degree examination in Arts or Science conducted by the Mangalore University or any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by the Mangalore University, shall be eligible of admission to the degree of Bachelor of Education, provided he/ she has secured not less than 50% marks taking in to consideration the marks of all the examination of all the three years excluding internal and class examination marks (45% in the case of SC/ST/Category I/Physically handicapped candidates). Relaxation in percentage of marks for category II, III, IV shall be as per Govt. orders issued from time to time. He /she should study any one of the languages and two out of the three electives among subjects specified below.
Languages: English, Kannada
Electives: Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, Mathematics, History, Political Science, Sociology, Geography, Economics, English, Kannada.
Candidates who have obtained the B.A/B.Sc degree from Universities outside Karnataka State shall have studied any one of the languages and at least two elective subjects listed under electives given above. Further they shall have studied one of those electives by appearing in the University examinations for at least two years and the principal subject for all the three years. They are required to obtain the eligibility certificate from the Mangalore University.
Rules regarding admission, entrance examination, intake, eligibility, reservations, proportions for different subjects and in-service candidates and related norms as laid down by the NCTE and the Government of Karnataka from time to time and notified by the University shall be followed.
Course Contents:
Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) follows the one year academic year pattern as ste by the University The medium of instruction and examination of the course shall be Kannada and English. Even when the medium of instruction is English, the candidates will be permitted to write the examination in Kannada.
