Prof. Dr C V Raghuveer, Dean & Medical Director

Born on 4th April 1951, Prof. (Dr) C. V. Raghuveer got his MBBS in 1975 from Bangalore University and the PG diploma(DCP) and MD degree in Pathology in 1978 and 1979 respectively from the prestigious JIPMER in Pondicherry, then under Madras University. After a brief stint as Senior Resident in JIPMER, Prof. Raghuveer had a glorious 6 years in Teaching in two overseas Medical Colleges, first in Nigeria and then in Libya. It was in 1986 that he joined the world renowned Kasturba Medical College under Manipal University as an Associate Professor in Pathology. From then on he never looked back, rising steadily and surely. His initial promotion to the post of Professor in Pathology in 1988, paved the way towards his progress to HOD (1990-1995), Associate Dean (1992-2003) and the coveted position of Dean (2003-2008) .Later, his deputation to the American University of Antigua Medical School and the Melaka Manipal Medical College, ensured that he holds the distinction of working in 4 different overseas Medical Schools with 4 different types of curricula. His impeccable services to the Manipal University spanned over 25 long years. Prof. Raghuveer’s example proved beyond doubt that “with shear hard work, dedication and determination it is possible to achieve any thing” His irresistible desire to excel in teaching, research and practice in Pathology were responsible for him to be bestowed upon with many Awards.

Prof Raghuveer has guided 30 MD pathology students for their Dissertation, 6 PhD scholars towards their Doctorate and countless undergraduates in their ICMR Short Term Studentships and Mentored Student Projects. Recognizing his immense contribution to Pathology and Cytopathology, he was awarded the Fellowship of Indian College of Pathologists and also was chosen to be the national President of Indian Academy of Cytologists.

An astute researcher that he is, Prof Raghuveer’s 130 publications have appeared in several peer-reviewed journals world over, some with good impact factors. A much sought after speaker in various academic fora, he has attended not less than 140 Scientific meetings inclusive of Conferences, CMEs, Workshops, Orations and the like in Pathology and Medical Education Technology.

An administrator of repute, Prof Raghuveer brought about many significant changes at KMC. As the Chairman of Library Committee and the Medical Education Department he made very significant contributions in getting a world-class Library at KMC and took all the responsibility to make a spacious Seminar Room in the Medical Education Department. Appointed as the Chief Superintendent of University Exams and MAHE Entrance Exams successively for 8 years, he revamped the entire examination system and made sure that it became near-fool proof.

Besides being a hard core Academician, Prof Raghuveer has shown keen interest in Sports and Music. Even today he can spin the cricket ball to the utter dismay of reputed batsmen. Once upon a time he used to play on the mridangam. Prof Raghuveer is married to a well known Physician, Prof (Dr). Prabha Adhikari. They are blessed with a son, also a Doctor and a daughter who is pursuing her Engineering education.

Prof. Raghuveer joined the Srinivas group as its first Medical Director on 1st May 2011. With his vast experience in Administration and with his penchant for hard work, given the right opportunity, he is very optimistic of doing great things to this fledgeling institution.
