DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMY
Overview of the Department: The Department of Anatomy imparts knowledge on human anatomy including histology, embryology and osteology to the students of 1st year MBBS. The Department has a team of well experienced, research-oriented and dedicated teaching faculty.
Facilities: The Department is located in the ground floor of the college. The department has a full-fledged laboratory for undergraduate training, two demonstration halls for undergraduate students, a dissection hall, a research laboratory, a departmental library, and a museum.

DEPARTMENT OF PHYSIOLOGY
Overview of the Department: The Department of Physiology imparts knowledge on human physiology to the 1st year MBBS students.
Facilities:The Department of Physiology is equipped with four laboratories.
- Haematology Lab
- Amphibian Lab
- Mammalian Lab
- Clinical Physiology Lab
Haematology Lab: All haematology experiments which form the basis of diagnosis of many diseases will be conducted.
Amphibian Lab: Students will be given demonstration on muscle-nerve and heart experiments.
Mammalian Lab: Students will be shown physiological experiments on mammals.
Clinical Physiology Lab: Students will be trained here to examine the patients.In depth knowledge of all clinical examinations will be imparted to students here.Apart from these laboratories, the Department of Physiology consists of adequate, spacious staff rooms, a research laboratory, a departmental library and two demonstration rooms.
DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY
Overview of the Department: The Department of Biochemistry imparts knowledge on biochemistry and applied clinical aspects to the students of 1st year MBBS. The Department has a team of experienced, research-oriented and dedicated teaching faculty. The Department is located in the first floor of the college. The department has a full-fledged laboratory for undergraduate training, two demonstration halls for undergraduate students, a research laboratory and a departmental library. The Department also functions a Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory in the hospital.
Facilities: The Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory is located in the first floor of Srinivas Hospital, a unit of SIMS & RC. The laboratory is well equipped with fully automated analyzers such as Biolis 24iP Chemistry Analyser, Biomerieux Hormone Analyzer, Eschweiler Blood-gas Analyser, Rosch Electrolyte Analyser and DS5 HbA1c Analyser. These systems perform fully automated, computerized, random access chemistry analyses that utilize the latest technologies. The laboratory offers round the clock service, possesses state-of-the-art laboratory facility and experienced supervisory staff and technical staff.

DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL MEDICINE
Overview of the Department: The Department of General Medicine functions in the 1st floor of the OPD block of the hospital. The staff including the residents offers round the clock emergency services to the public. The Department is headed by the renowned physician, Dr. A. Prabhakar Rao. The Department will be involved in teaching and training undergraduate medical students. Undergraduate teaching will involve lectures, seminar presentations, bed side clinics and grand rounds.
Facilities: The Department conducts regular asthma camps in the OPD on the 2nd Thursday of every month. The Department conducts periodic diabetic and cardiac screening camps. A 10 bed ICU & ICCU, echocardiography, stress test- TMT and dialysis facilities are available.

DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SURGERY
Overview of the Department: The Department of General Surgery headed by Dr. Kalpana, with experience of 24 years in surgery, has staff strength of more than 20 doctors. There are 3 units in the Department with 105 in-patient beds. All minor and major general surgical procedures and emergency surgeries are carried out including endoscopy and laparoscopic procedures. Dr. Thangam Verghese, a senior plastic surgeon with experience of over 30 years, present in the Department deals with the reconstructive cosmetic and maxillo-facial surgeries. The Department further handles emergency cases including trauma round the clock.
Facilities: The Department of General Surgery is situated on the 1st floor of the OPD block of the hospital. There are cubicles to examine each patient separately and for dressing. Minor OT (operation theatre) facility for undergoing minor surgical procedures and day care procedures on outpatient basis is available. Routine and emergency endoscopy procedures are done in indicated patients on OP basis as well as in-patient basis.
The endoscopy unit is equipped with equipment to deal with basic therapeutic as well as palliative treatment for the needy. The Department houses the latest equipment required for routine basic and advance laparoscopic procedures. The Department deals with emergency surgeries round the clock. In addition to the minor OT, the Department includes one emergency OT as well as a major OT equipped to handle all major cases. Cosmetic surgeries, reconstructive burns treatment, maxilla-facial surgeries and oncoplastic surgeries are also handled by the Department.

DEPARTMENT OF OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY
Overview of the Department: The staff including the residents of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology offers women’s care services to the community. The Department is headed by Dr. K. R. Bhat, a distinguished doctor with more than three decades of experience. The Department will be involved in teaching and training undergraduate students of medicine. Undergraduate teaching will involve dyadic lectures, student seminars, bed side clinics and grand rounds.
Facilities: The Department is a fully equipped tertiary care centre with qualified specialists. The Department provides round the clock high risk obstetrical care. It is equipped in state of the art technologies in various categories like 4D ultrasound, basic and advanced laparoscopic facility, infertility management and cancer screening. The Department also provides community services like ‘Women’s Health Camp’ and ‘Executive Women Health Check-up’. Consultants visit peripheral camps to ensure full and complete women’s care.

DEPARTMENT OF OPHTHALMOLOGY
Overview of the Department: Welcome to the Department of Ophthalmology, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre. From a humble beginning we have leaped to the present stature in providing eye care services to the public. The Department was upgraded and we started conducting outdoor camps to control blindness; not forgetting to mention the successful intraocular lens implantation in camp patients. We provide community ophthalmic services besides routine base hospital activity. School screening programmes have also been imbibed into the routine.
In the base hospital we treat a wide array of eye problems, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and corneal disease. Eye problems are often related to other conditions, such as diabetes mellitus or thyroid disease. In these cases, we coordinate patient care with other specialists in a comprehensive and integrated way. The competitiveness of the eye care services provided by us speaks of the commitment of our faculty to the society at large.
Facilities: Our clinical maestros are backed by a well equipped library. It stalks text books and reference books on various areas of the subject. Peer reviewed ophthalmic journals are also under subscription to update our knowledge on the recent advances in the field.
The Department is equipped with a Refraction Unit, Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy, Applanation Tonometry, Gonioscopy, Indirect Ophthalmoscopy, Keratometry, Scan Biometry, Carl Zeiss Microscope, and a Retinal Cryo Unit.

DEPARTMENT OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY – HEAD & NECK SURGERY
Overview of the Department: The Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, strives to provide highest standards of health care to the patients. The faculty, residents and the support staff are committed to provide a variety of services and treatment for diseases of the Ear, Nose, Throat and Head and Neck.
Facilities: The Department provides services to the patients in the sub specialties like general otolaryngology, otology, rhinology, laryngology, and head & neck cancers. The Department has a video endoscopy lab, where fiberoptic and rigid endoscopic examination of the nose & paranasal sinuses, ear and larynx are done. The audiology section has facilities for testing the hearing like puretone audiometry and impedence audiometry. The operation theatre is equipped with modern equipments like Karl-Storz nasal endoscopes, direct laryngoscopes, esophagoscopes, bronchoscopes and 3 chip camera.
Special clinics for allergy, giddiness and headache are available. Emergencies like nasal bleeding, trauma to face, stridor and foreign body of nose, ear and throat are managed.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY MEDICINE
Overview of the Department: The Department of Community Medicine imparts medical education and training to undergraduate students as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. It creates awareness among the medical students about the global public health scenario and that in our country. It involves students in understanding and assessing the community health status and its needs by involving them in field activities during the Rural Health Centre and the Urban Health Centre postings. It conducts student seminars and group discussions on regular basis to build the skills of the students. It involves students in family study in the field and various student projects to encourage them in health research work.
The teaching staff is involved in integrated teaching of the subject regarding the existing public health problems and programmes for prevention and control of both the communicable and non-communicable diseases prevailing in the community. They are also involved in community health awareness activities and health camps for providing basic health care services and referral services. They attend regular CMEs and seminars to discuss changes in national programmes and policies to update their knowledge.
Facilities: The Department of Community Medicine has well planned rooms for all the departmental staff, museum, library, laboratory, classroom teaching and lecture halls. There are two demonstration halls with sitting capacity for 75 students. There is a research laboratory for conducting departmental research and training activities. There is a museum with all the relevant public health models and charts needed for student practical training. There is a departmental library-cum-seminar room with around 100 text books for reference.
The lecture halls are huge and comfortable with over 175 seating capacity and well equipped audiovisual aids for classroom teachings like central display screens for power-point presentations, black and white boards, microphone and speakers all around for good audibility within the hall.
There is a Rural Health Centre and an Urban Health Centre for community exposure of students, and practical teaching & training. Various services are implemented through these centres like Immunization and antenatal care available in government programmes and projects. There is availability of departmental vehicle to transport students and staff to the field practice areas for educational purpose, health surveys and departmental projects.
