The Learning Model of the PGDM Program is designed to find the leader in you and covers a broad ground with case studies and real life projects
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING PROGRAMME (ELP)
The Experiential Learning Programme for the PGDM students allows them to work in teams with the industry on real-world business issues, giving them the chance to apply the learning outside the classroom setting and gain new perspectives on business and major global issues.
- ELP projects enable students to integrate the learnt concepts in the core terms and to apply the skills of consulting in developing industry specific expertise.
- Teams of 4-5 students advise companies on strategic issues across 16 weeks.
- With guidance from a faculty advisor, PGP – Project director, and a corporate liaison, the student teams create a unique recommendation to fulfill the organizational need.
- Many companies use this program as their pre-recruitment exercise as well.
As a part of the PGDM curriculum, SSB students may opt to work on such live projects. The student teams conclude the project by providing recommendation and presenting their finding to the company’s management. This is a credit course and is taken very seriously by the students.
The Experiential Learning Programme has generated a tremendous response, including many projects which directly impact the bottom line. Last year, we had 70 projects covering the whole spectrum of the business – from manufacturing, technology, consumer products, financial services, development sector, and the Government.
The areas of study of the ELP included:
- Market positioning and entry strategies
- New product development
- Developing growth strategies
- Talent management strategies
Further information about how to approach companies, form teams, and the final selection process will be presented at a special info session for students during Term 1.
EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES
Businesses worldwide need management graduates who have the tools to succeed globally -- leadership skills, cultural awareness, foreign language proficiency, and an understanding of how the global marketplace functions. The ISB prepares you to meet these demands.
International Student Exchange Programme
At the Indian School of Business, we want our students to have as much international exposure as possible. The Inbound Exchange Programme and Outbound Exchange Programme offer exciting opportunities for you to learn more about the dynamics of management in different parts of the world.
The International Student Exchange Programme gives you the opportunity to study for two terms at other leading business schools. The ISB has partnerships with 32 leading schools from the USA, France, South Africa, Israel, Germany, China, Pakistan, and the UK for exchange programmes. Visiting students add to the diversity and peer learning experience on campus. Over the past few years, students of over 16 countries have visited the ISB as exchange students.
COMPETITIONS AND AWARD
SSB Young Leaders and Torchbearers Awards
These awards are a tribute to the SSB students who have demonstrated extraordinary ability, leadership, commitment and quality of participation in campus life. They are portrayed to the recruiters along the same lines as the Dean’s list. All awardees are invited to the campus during orientation week to hand over the baton to the next batch.
Services rendered by students voluntarily, during their stay towards Admissions, CAS, B-school events, brand building, fund raising, community and student events, are considered for the award. The contributions by these Young Leaders and Torchbearers are formally acknowledged at a ceremony held a day before the Graduation Day.
ELP Peak Impact Award
The Experiential Learning Programme (ELP) allows student teams to work with industry partners on real-world business issues, giving them the chance to apply their learning outside the classroom setting. The ELP Golden Consultant Award is an award of distinction given to a team that displays extraordinary consulting skills during the course of the project. In particular, weightage will be given to teams that demonstrate the value of their work in quantifiable terms.
Business Plan Competition
The Business Plan Competition, will be organized jointly organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and the Entrepreneurship Club, provides students the opportunity of working on a business plan from start to finish. Students get a chance to develop and test their skills at planning and leadership. This gives you the necessary know-how when you set out to practice your entrepreneurial skills on a truly live project.
Global Social Venture Competition
The ISB believes in contributing to the development of vibrant entrepreneurial ventures in the social sector. The Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) provides students the chance to contribute to the community by creating an entrepreneurial venture that has a clear social objective. The competition is organised by the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, the Columbia Business School and the London Business School, and is supported by the Goldman Sachs Foundation. The ISB is one of the partners for the competition and has the responsibility of promoting the competition in Asia and organising the Asia Round.
The SSB students will take part in a number of competitions organised by other B-schools across the country and abroad.
