Department Of Prosthodontics And Crown, Bridge and Implantology

Prosthodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes.

Through diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance, a Prosthodontist can improve the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients.


Prosthodontists are qualified to offer care in state-of-the-art procedures and techniques, such as:

Rigorous training and experience provide prosthodontists with a special understanding of the dynamics of a smile, the preservation of a healthy mouth, and the creation of tooth replacement.

The department conducts undergraduate pre-clinical training programs for aspiring dental graduates in first and second years of the Bachelor of Dentistry (B.D.S) course as per the guidelines of Dental Council of India (DCI) and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore (RGUHS).

The curriculum includes clinical training of undergraduate third and final year students in removable and fixed prosthodontics and rotatory internship program for a period of one year deemed compulsory by the RGUHS and DCI for upcoming graduates.

The department has experienced faculties satisfying the requirements of the DCI. The department is also supported by a receptionist, clinical assistants and four trained dental technicians.

The faculty of the department conduct academic programs as well as clinical consultancies for the institution providing prosthetic dental treatment at a post-graduate level. The faculty is also involved in extensive activities in collaboration with the Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences.
